Donna Wadsworth

The master visionary behind Savoury City Catering and a recent inductee into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame, Donna Wadsworth’s experience in the food service industry stretches far and wide. After successfully running her first wholesale dessert business in the late 80s, Donna went on to chef at a number of restaurants in and around Toronto, including Southern Accent, Iguana, and Caledon Inn. Her two passions – cooking and travel – came together when given the chance to work as a consulting chef at the Windemere Hotel in the Himalayan foothills of Darjeeling for several months on two occasions.

An opportunity to become the Executive Chef at “Major the Gourmet” brought Donna to Vancouver in 1999, where she and Nikki Major kicked out some of the most original catering in the city for 2 years, followed by a stint at “Out to Lunch Catering” where she developed her event planning skills.

Things came full circle in 2003 when Donna opened Savoury City Foods Ltd. Now celebrating 20 successful years in business, this was her chance to put her incredible years of expertise into practice to create perfectly orchestrated events.

Donna lives by the motto “if you fail to prepare, then you prepare to fail” and this is evident by her meticulous attention to detail when planning events. By no means would she claim clairvoyance, but she is definitely a “seer” with the unique ability to visualize an event from beginning to end.

To this day, Donna continues to bring her two rich passions for cooking and travel together, using her spare time to travel the world, sample new foods, and find inspiration to keep things fresh year over year.

Donna enjoys a great reputation in the industry as a facilitator and mentor and has benefited greatly both personally and professionally from her involvement in the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and the Women’s President Organization of Vancouver.
