Vie's Chicken & Steaks
Vie’s Chicken and Steak House, owned and operated by Vie and Bob Moore (1948 – 1980), had a loyal following with a well-known reputation for outstanding food (the menu included steak, mushrooms, onions, peas, chicken, French fries, salad, fresh baked biscuits).
Located at 209 Union St (just off of Main) it quickly became known as a ‘destination place”, with regulars throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Many owners, staff, and patrons of Vancouver’s nightlife entertainment and restaurant establishments, during the ‘50’s, 60’s, 70’s, were regular customers at Vie’s including many well known entertainers who performed in Vancouver during the vibrant supper club era.
With great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a jukebox playing non-stop selections from a wide spectrum of popular and current hits it really was an experience to remember and cherish.
Of course what truly made all of this special was’Vie’! Regardless of one’s background in life, socio-economic status, where one lived or came from, Vie had a way of welcoming everyone and making you feel special! She was the ‘heart and soul’ of this legendary establishment, for over thirty years, in the annals of Vancouver’s restaurant and entertainment history!
