Event Description:

The BC Restaurant Hall of Fame & Awards Gala celebrates the individuals in BC’s restaurant scene that make it one of the most outstanding in the world in terms of diversity, unique concepts, exceptional food quality, excellent wine, professional service and value to the customer. Since its inception, the Hall of Fame has inducted 88 individuals representing a broad range of cuisine types and diverse concepts.

This year, the 2016 inductees will be honoured at a gala evening on May 8, 2017 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West.  Enjoy a fantastic West Coast feast prepared by Chef Blair Rasmussen of the Vancouver Convention Centre, 2012 BC Restaurant Hall of Fame inductee. This decadent 3-course dinner will be paired with great wines as you watch the class of 2016 inducted into the BCRHOF.


Individual Inductee Categories:

Active Restaurateur
Celebrates the exceptional restaurateur who is currently active in the BC restaurant industry.

Friend of the Industry
This special recognition award is presented from time to time to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the hospitality industry in British Columbia, but who may not otherwise qualify for induction into the Hall of Fame such as media, educator or politician.

An individual who, through their work as a supplier partner, has consistently supported BC’s restaurant industry.

The Industry Award
An individual – retired, deceased or active – who is or has been a chef, server, manager, bartender and who has demonstrated exceptional professionalism working in the restaurant industry. These individuals will be recognized for making their restaurant a special experience for customers. 2 awards:

New this year! Restaurant Awards:

Social Responsibility Awards – Independent & Multi-Unit
Recognizing restaurants in two categories acknowledged for their commitment to activities that balance profit with the benefit to society. Restaurants will be judged based on environmental, people (employees, suppliers, guests and general public) and charitable support (financial and in kind). Efforts supporting local sustainability and community contribution will also be considered.

Most Creative
Recognizes the restaurant that is renowned for thinking and behaving “outside the box”. This will be reflected in food, restaurant design, promotions, hiring practices, charitable involvement, etc.

Best New Restaurant
Any restaurant that has opened in the 12 months ending August 31, 2016 are eligible. Recognizes the one restaurant that makes you keeping going back for more.

Best Restaurant – Independent & Multi-Unit
Recognizes what you consider to be the best overall experience including food, customer care, service and atmosphere in two categories.
